Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme where every Tuesday we look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point, ten) bookish examples to demonstrate that particular topic. Top Ten Tuesday (created and hosted by The Broke and Bookish) is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and future week’s topics can be found here.
This week’s topic being a freebie, I chose to list the top ten bookish discoveries I owe either to the blogging community or to the publishers who so kindly promote the ARCs of their new issues: without them, I certainly might have missed a lot of amazing books, so this is my way to say ‘thank you’ for pointing me toward those new-to-me authors and stories.
These ten books are only a part of the whole list: first I had to limit it to the ten items required by the meme, and then there are other titles I already showcased in previous TTT iterations, so I wanted to leave more room to books from my reading archive that I have not mentioned yet.

I enjoyed Children of Time more than I was expecting. Unfortunately, the sequel pretty much destroyed all of that goodwill 😦

Children of Ruin lacked the novelty of the first book’s core concept, IMHO, and I’ve since come to believe that Tchaikowski’s strength lies in changing narrative subject from one book to another…

Did you do a read along of Luna with Mayri? I remember her reading it and thinking it sounded great, but recall that you might have read it with her? Or did I make that up? 😄

Children of Time turned out to be an amazing read, whose most surprising quality was my total involvement with the spiders: given my mild arachnophobia, that’s beyond surprising and a testament to the author’s writing skills 🙂

How many interesting books!! 😍 I have read just two of them, The Tethered Mage, and to be honest I was expecting something a bit more from it, but I enjoyed it all the same, and Soulless (I love this series!!), but a lot of the others are on my TBR and I hope to read them all soon!!

As for Soulless – and the rest of the Parasol Protectorate series – this is one of the most delightfully funny sagas I can remember reading 🙂

Circe was among my favorites, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Isn’t it great getting to discover all these incredible books we might otherwise have passed by? 🙂

After enjoying Circe I’ve been looking at Song of Achilles as well, but time and a crowded TBR have prevented me (so far) from exploring it… (((SIGH))) 😉

Ah… I always have known that our tastes strongly overlap – but when I saw this list – I loved Circe, Children of Time, Dreamer’s Pool, The Tethered Mage (and I think she just goes on getting better – the latest book in the spinoff series is awesome!) The Girl With All the Gifts – which is still my favourite of those books, Luna – and I’ve also loved where he takes the narrative in the other two books, Trading in Danger is a wonderful start to this cracking space opera adventure. So I’m PAYING ATTENTION and will be tracking down Souless and Masks & Shadows! Especially as I thoroughly enjoyed her Snowspelled novella… Thank you for the suggestions, Maddalena. And like you – I love the fact that our community means I pick up all sorts of wonderful reads I wouldn’t normally have known about:)).

We do indeed share many reading preferences, and that’s one of the things I enjoy in the community, the chance of finding books I might otherwise have missed thanks to my fellow bloggers whose tastes run close to mine. Not to mention the possibility of gushing 😀 over our favorite discoveries!
Soulless – and the whole Parasol Protectorate series – is quite funny, which is sometimes unusual for the steampunk/urban fantasy genre, and I’m certain you will find it a very delightful and mood-lifting read. Enjoy! 🙂

Looking forward to getting hold of Soulless. And himself has already bought me the Stephanie Burgis rom-com regency dragon offering as an early Christmas present:)). But then I was rather drooling over it. Jane Austen AND dragons???
