About Me

Books are my vice, and speculative fiction my preferred medium for indulging that vice.

J.R.R. Tolkien wrote:

“I have claimed that escape is one of the main functions of fairy-stories, and since I do not disapprove of them, it is plain that I do not accept the tone of scorn or pity with which ‘Escape’ is now so often used.  Why should a man be scorned if, finding himself in prison, he tries to get out and go home? Or if he cannot do so, he thinks and talks about other topics than jailers and prison-walls?”

(On Fairy Stories – 1939)

There is no prison I need to escape from, but I still enjoy losing myself in some imaginary world and let the mind wander.

This blog wants to be the chronicle of those journeys.

  2. Hey, I’ve just nominated you for the Neat Blog Award – to be honest, please don’t feel any pressure to take part, I know these are really time consuming and also I’ve already dropped one of these on you previously! Honestly, I’m not singling you out for this special sort of attention!!! Would of course love to know your answers but that’s because I’m nosey.
    Lynn 😀
